FEATURES
POWERFUL SOUND WITH UTMOST DELICACY
The rationale in the development of the new SR-007 Earspeaker was to provide deep powerful sound previously unobtainable in Earspeakers. STAX engineers developed a unique new electrode structure. Visible through the outer case, gold plated on the outer edge this new electrode has less holes than conventional STAX Earspeakers and thus provides an increased diaphragm vibration area allowing for rich and powerful sound yet retaining all the delicacy STAX is famous for.

RIGID METAL HOUSING
To maintain clear distortion-free sound it is most important that nothing other than the diaphragm should vibrate. Within the STAX SR-007 the sound element is encased in a thick insulated resin case firmly fixed to the rigid body. The results are nothing short of spectacular.

NEW FULLY ADJUSTABLE EARPADS
Utmost comfort for maximum enjoyment of your STAX SR-007 is provided with earpads that are fully adjustable to the shape of your head.

The ultimate personal listening experience in terms of finesse and detail has always been a pair of headphones-not just any sort of headphones-electrostatic devises such as the ones under review. Stax has long been considered the aristocrat of electrostatic 'phones, though many other manufacturers have produced sophisticated instruments. Sennheiser and Koss come to mind and, while they have registered some successes, their electrostatic 'phones aren't their best-selling models. Stax, on the other hand, has been around since 1954, specializing in electrostatic headphone and loudspeaker design. The first Stax design was the CSG-1, a condenser speaker with an operating principle resembling the Heil air motion transformer. In 1957, the CP-15V, a pickup cartridge, was introduced followed by a new electrostatic "earspeaker" in 1959. In 1960, the model SR-1 and the SRD-1 transformer adaptor were introduced and, in 1963, an electrostatic pickup cartridge and a tone arm were brought to the serious audiophile. (Our Editor remembers well as he was one of their customers). Over the years, Stax developed many innovative electronics including loudspeakers, CD players and amplifiers, all components based on research in electrostatic technology. Nowadays, the company is headed by two individuals who have devoted their entire engineering career to the art of high fidelity with the tenacity of monomaniacs. In the process, Stax headphones have been improved as the engineers found new and exciting materials. Presently, Stax is operated by the people who headed the design team of the original company founder, Naotake Hayashi. The manufacture of all other Stax components has been put on hold in favour of focusing all research and development on headphones for the high-end consumer and professional markets.
