Details: Big wide powerful soundstage, belies its size
Finish and build quality is reasonably good, if you look closely you can see where the beautiful rich coloured veneer joins... plug it in and listened for a while and it became obvious that these are superb sounding speakers at a bargain, if there ever was one!
the bass in my smallish living room with these babies was tight and powerful! these speakers rock, although if all you are looking for is something neutral with a sensational midrange like bbc type speakers, you may be slightly dissapointed. these are exciting big powerful sounding cones, lovely with dynamic music.

Details: Good clone
I\'m not sure if the filter of the original Response 1s is exactly the same of the original Response 1SC, but this units have a perfectly cloned filter of the 1SC with a perfectly cloned box of the 1S-1SC with the drivers of the 1S.
It sound harsh and extrematelly detailed at the beginning, good scene, but too much tweeter. Airy and sibilant voices, incisive upper band, bad. Revisiting the DIY (HUM) community over internet about the 1S I discover that a 8R2 resistor is recommended in the filter for the tweeter instead of the 5R6 (for the 1S clone) so I decided to istall a 2R7 resistor outside (minus pole) (2R7+5R6=8R2) and voilà! the sound come to live without harsh.
With this (outside) modification of the filter the sound is mild, with a present upper band that doesn\'t disturb to the sweet middle and an improved compensated sound. The sound is gentle, very musical, with a good gift of microdynamics and timbre accuracy, quite pleasant and present bass response for the midwoofer size, and a lot of moments of music.
