The Dussun V series is a new kind of large power hyper class A integrated amplifier. The “Hyper Class A” is a “Green” Class A solution, whose technically successful adaptive-bias circuit achieves the extra large class A power output objective under conditions of low-power consumption and low heat producing. The adaptive-bias circuit with an ideal specification permits the amplifier to maintain class A mode output even if the speakers’ impedance drops largely and output power increases several times. This situation is different from the traditional pure class A amplifiers’ inevitable situation of returning to class B when the speaker load impedance goes down, and is much close to the ideal class A amplifier essence.

Got my second V8i from Ornec - should have also bought the first one. Service is impeccable - they delivered using DHL who sent it very fast with little duties on my side. Packing is superlative - amp arrived in pristine condition. This is a dual mono amplifier - it means greater stereo image thanks to completely separate audio channels, and a massive power transformer per audio channel. It has also 7 pairs of output transistors per channel. The fuses are sort of hidden under white plastic caps inside the amp, under, and near the front. Here is an excerpt from the Absolute Sound about the V8i :''Some of you might know that Dussun designed and built the amplifiers for Mark Levinson's (the man) company Red Rose Music.''
In plain English, this means that Red Rose sells a quasi copy of the same amplifier for much much more money !!
If you have 110Volt house current, you will need a transformer to use the 220 volts the amp runs on. The amp draws on average 120 watts or so and 175 volt amperage. I bought 2 transformer ( one for each amp) to be safe with a limit of 2,000 VA each. Also using a custom power cord.
The V8i sounds best after over 200 plus hours of burn in. Using 2 of them to by-amp my rebuilt AR9 tower speakers & and using the Meixing MingDa MC 2A3 tube pre-amp (also sold by Ornec), the sound is just phenomenal: lost of air, space, depths of field, clean highs and deep clean,tight bass. I have tried other amplifiers costing more and the sound never came close to the V8i. Once you hear this dual mono amplifier, you will never go back to an amplifier driven by one transformer... |

This amplifier is absolutely amazing by first the power 2x250W and the musicality. I\'m musician and I listen a lot classical music and world music. That\'s perfect and especially for speakers which needs a lot of electricity, like me with Martin Logan. I recomand this amplifier without reservation because I think for the price, it\'s maybe the best amplifier of the market. It\'s not for nothing that Red Rose did the copy of this one, he sounds \ |

Very Powerfull and spatial sound, how i It like.It\'s not a Mark Levinson, it\'s a Dussun V8i. Really a Big Block with 8 Zylinders: Full power and smooth cultivated. The best you can get for the money. My recommendation! |
