Details: Classic 8.0B Power Amplifier
I chose the Classic 8.0B Power Amplifier to replace an ageing Luxman 25W Class A power amplifier. I was impressed by the specification and as an analogue circuit designer in a previous working life thought the component selection was very good. The final deciding factor was the price and I decided to take my chances.
The amplifier arrived after 2 weeks, not bad considering it was over the Christmas and New Year holiday period. The amplifier was well packaged and arrived in perfect condition.
Upon opening it was immediately obvious that it was well built with an excellent finish and attention to detail. It has good connectors and appears to be made of top quality materials.
Ah, but what does it sound like? Firstly it has plenty of power. It has an extended bass, excellent mid-range and higher frequencies. I listen to an eclectic mix of non-classical music and after a few days listening I am delighted with the amplifer. It does exactly what it says on the front of the amplifier - Stereo Power Amplifier. The Classic 8.0B Power Amplifier lets you enjoy your music without getting in the way or getting flustered when you crank up the volume. I would recommend this amplifier and might even be tempted to try a new pre-amp. |
